ambassadors of Islam

Assalamualaikum :)

just want to share this one video. i think she's right when she says, when people look at a man, even with a beard, people wouldn't know for sure if he is a Muslim. but when people look at a woman/girl wearing scarf/hijab, they certainly know that that woman/girl is a Muslim. these women/girls are like ambassadors of Islam, in which we give the direct message that we are Muslims. so i am here to remind myself and my sisters in Islam, lets portray the right message being a woman/girl in hijab :)

may Allah bless us all.. Ameen.

Nisfu Syaaban

its Nisfu Syaaban tomorrow, friends :) 16 July 2011 it is, starting from Maghrib. 'nisfu' means middle in Arabic; nisfu Syaaban means the middle of the month Syaaban. there are lots of benefits of the night of Syaaban, among others:

"A hadith said that the advantage of the month of Rejab is the same as the benefits of the Holy Quran compared to other 'qalam', the month of Sya'aban as the same as the entire 'Anbia', and the month of Ramadhan as the same as Allah over all the creatures. One of the benefits of Sya'aban is that those who fast on any day, Allah will forbid him from hellfire and they will be companions to Prophet Yusof in heaven.Another hadith, as narrated by Ibnu Habban in his authentic book, from Muaz bin Jabal ra, said that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) spoke that "Allah will see his followers on the night of Nisfu Sya'aban and Allah will give rewards or pahala to all of the followers, except those who commit syirik (witchcraft) and adultery".As narrated by Abdullah bin Amru bin al-As, which means "Allah looks at his creatures on the night of Nisfu Sya'aban, and will grant forgiveness, except for two groups, that are those who commit suicide and those who spread fitnah"." (source)

(source)

here's another great read. i only hope all my readers understand Bahasa Malaysia, cause i cant really find good articles bout Nisfu Syaaban in English :)

praises and gratitude

i have so many things to be grateful in life. i just finished another presentation two hours ago. another module done for the course. two days ago, when me and my partner started with the prototype, it felt like its a never-ending process of folding and cutting and taping the bits and pieces together. but today after we were done with the prototype, the concept boards and the presentation, it feels unbelievable that we actually did it. and most importantly, we did it on time. Alhamdulillah.. yeay!

i have so many things to be grateful in life. in time of sadness, or confusion, or when the pressure of getting things done in time and at the same time giving out the best is really testing my patience, i have Him to turn to, and everything else in life seems so small compared to the reassurance that i get back. in time of loneliness and when it feels like no one else could actually be there with me and for me, i am grateful that i have my thoughts on Him and i know that He's watching on me and He's taking care of me. at times when others are panicking and running back and forth looking for answers, i got mine from praying to Him, my Creator. thank you Allah for opening my heart. thank you Allah for i am born in a Muslim family. thank you Allah for the faith i have in you. thank you Allah for i will always have you in my life. thank you Allah for everything, everything, everything that i see, touch, feel, listen, think and smell everyday.

lets spend a minute or two and raise our hands to express our gratitude and praises to Him, Allah the al-Mighty, for everything that we have today.

i have so many things to be grateful for in life.
we have so many things to be grateful for in life.

the mute elephant

i have one disturbing thing in my mind right now. one big thing. and i cant seem to tell anyone bout it, its just not right. but i am grateful that i will always have the Al-'Alim with me all the time for only He knows whats within me without me saying a word, and with His willing, i will be fine for He is also Al-Hadi.

"Verily Allah knows (all) the hidden things of the heavens and the earth: verily He has full knowledge of all that is in (men's) hearts."
Surah 35, Fatir (The Angels, Orignator) - verse 38

baking & decorating cupcakes help me get my mind off things too.
i turned into a happy cartoon bunny who floats around the house instead of walking everytime i finished a batch of cupcakes :)

and also Saddad Fusion tonight was awesome. i think it is the best Saddad Fusion ever. maybe also because there were two crowds - one routing for football who screamed 'oohs' and 'aahs' time and again; and, one cheering their pretty voices out for the bands on stage. anyhow, with performers singing in your neighbourhood songs like 'aku skandal' in French; some evergreen old soul rock songs which i heard before but never knew their title; and, a guy who looks very naive but really knows how to rock the stage with a guitar and his one of a kind voice (he did get the loudest applause i think), anyone would be uplifted and going back home still in awe. at least thats how i feel.

oh, i'm happier already! but the big elephant in the room is still there.

rhapsody for the soul

i first watched this video on a friend's Friendster profile page. i was immediately awe-stricken when i first heard it. since then, i found myself missing it once in a while while doing my daily chores and i would go to her page and watch it on loop. some of you might have watched this before, but just in case you haven't, why not i share this beautiful recitation of the Quran and may we find tranquility in this uproaring world in it :) i think it is best if you watch this with your headphones/earphones on, and let it pervades through your veins and bones, and stream along with your blood, and hopefully, will increase our faith to Him, the Originator. Subhanallah.

kekasih-Nya sayangkan kita

EHEK

semoga menjadi renungan kita bersama (itu termasuk saya juga) yang hari Keputeraan Nabi Muhamad SAW bukan sekadar hari cuti umum, it is something to be celebrated. cause, without the birth of the Prophet Muhamad, we won't be having the faith & arah tuju like we have today, and we won't be living like we are today, and I won't be writing this entry for you to ponder upon. (tiba-tiba ngegeh mahu berbahasa Inggeris kembali).

Allahuma salli ala saiyidina Muhamad, wa'ala ali Muhamad.

jovial Monday

i fell asleep with a big lump of emotion in my heart. didnt even realise how i could doze off in such shape. and i woke up to the songs of the birds chirping happily outside my window. as i take a peek from my off-white curtain, Monday greeted me with jovial blue sky with thick white clouds over the green shades of the palm tree out my window. i instantly light up and forgo what happened the night before, and made a new vow upon my own happiness. think about it folks, how easily God makes us happy - a slight of blue and white and green, plus infinite dreams of tomorrow. it made me think, if i were to wake up in other places other than Kuching this morning, would i be greeted with such fine art? take for example if i woke up in KL, i might be greeted with the scratching sound Giselle made on my door and her chasing over Yui once i opened the door. and when i finally make my exit from the house, i shall be greeted by honking cars and polluted air of urban life. and people say, how we start our day IS significant, no?

read this from a friend's page who got it from somewhere else. lets ponder upon it, coz it is SO true :)

"Sometimes, Allah SWT breaks our spirit to save our soul. He breaks our heart to make us whole. He sends us pain so we can be stronger. He sends us failure so we can be humble. He sends us illness so we can take care of ourselves. Sometimes Allah SWT takes everything away from us so we can learn the value of everything He gave us. Allah SWT Is Great."

the fighter

call me outdated. coz i am. i dont read the newspapers, i dont watch prime news at 8pm. i still think that i'm a kid that does not need to bother about the happenings around the world, but at the same time wanting to be treated like an adult.

back to me being outdated, earlier today while cleaning the house, my mom found and article about the murder of Marwa Ali El-Sherbini and showed it to me. it was dated back in July 2009. some may have read the story from somewhere else, but i bet some have not heard of it, like me. right? ;p i have goosebumps after finish reading the article. the full article can be found on utusan malaysia online. wikipedia also has a good way of telling the story.

briefly, Marwa was an Egyptian woman who moved to German in 2008 with her family. she was verbally abused in a quarrel at a playground by a man called Alex W over a swing played by Marwa's son and Alex's niece. she was called 'Islamist', 'terrorist' and 'slut' by Alex for wearing the hijaab. others who were at the playground tried to stop Alex but he continued assaulting Marwa with his words until the police arrived. he was charged with defamation and was found guilty with a fine of 780 Euro. Alex then insulted Marwa again and this time publicly in the trial room thus causing him a higher conviction and an appeal hearing was held on July 1, 2009. on that day, after Marwa has testified, Alex walked across the room and stabbed Marwa about 18 times in front of all presence while shouting 'you dont desrve to live!'. Marwa's husband, Elwi Ali Okaz tried to protect her wife but was also stabbed by Alex. there wasnt a single security officer in the court room that day but luckily there was a policeman who was testifying over a different case nearby and he was called to the rescue. the policeman wrongly shot Elwi's leg for he mistook Elwi for the attacker. Elwi was seriously injured and went into a coma for two days, while Marwa couldnt make it and died on the scene. Alex was arrested there and then.

what's worse is that Marwa's three year-old-son was also in the room the day his parents were stabbed, and even worst: Marwa was pregnant with her second child at that time which was only three months old in her womb.

this might happened two months back, but the impact of it will never be outdated.
