Melbourne, part I

my plane boarded at 6.20am Adelaide time. so we get to see the sunrise while we're in the air. this was the horizon of Australia during the dawn. Subhanallah, pretty isnt it? :') and i like to think that the bulging thingy which create uneven line on the orange background is Ayers Rock, another place i'd really like to visit someday :)

after a 2-hour nap after we got off the plane, went for halal food hunting. and found this Indonesian restaurant, Nelayan. boleh la tahan, lapar tek nak.. and my friend deliberately took this photo with the nyonya at the back. tokay kedei ya katanya..

while we were in Melbourne, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival just started. i saw the TV ad since we were in Adelaide, but not until i watched this ad in our hotel in Melbourne that i realised this people take the festival really seriously in this city!

Melbourne people really have at least one funny bone in their body huh?

the event night. i wanted to walk up that stairs and take photos of the posters, but we were late for a dinner appointment with my cousin. it looks cool right from the outside?

the event venue of the festival at night, side profile.

this was where we're heading for the first dinner in Melbourne. Lythgow Street. this crossroad somehow looks like one which is in Adelaide. the west town or something.. macam dejavu ngan Adelaide jap..

a buliding not far from our hotel. see the blue flags on the right? thats the comedy festival posters yapping in the wind. hehe (these photos are not in timeline order)

the building i admired very much once i laid eyes on it. then it turned out to be a church. the gothic design of the buildings of its kind, the detailing, and how it just stands out from the others, i'm amazed!

just opposite the gothic building: Federation Square. google dikpun apa ada sia k. saya malas. bak kata Apiz when i asked him to google apa tah, "ingat google ya cikgu kah?" oh wait, the buildings are listed on the direction board already. tadaaa!

view of the other side of the river. see those flagss (again)???

Federation Square was also used as one of the venues for the comedy festival. Melbourne is so full of artsy stuff! i very loike lah!

tiba-tiba ada gamba building di waktu siang. yesss this was in the morning, the ones before was during senja. mun Bapak tauk mesti kenak anok main luar waktu Maghrib -_-"

another view of the other side of Yarra River. that is Melbourne Art Centre. macam Eiffel sik? cepat padah aok.

adjacent to the square, is the Spencer Street Train Station.

inside the station. lotsa clock showing the times of the train departing. ada immigrant jual bunga on the right. all the flowers are prettyful! i mean beautyful. i mean beuatiful. b e a u t i f u l lah. mok backspace pun malas dah :|

train route.

this was my first encounter with RMIT sign (at one of the shoplots) when we were busy food hunting for the first time. i stopped for a while to peek on this 'Capitol Theatre' and i thought "emmm kay.. so this is RMIT. should have some classes and offices upstairs lah oo..."

kept on walking and found this building with tonnes of young people lingering around it. muka macam abang ku nang banyak lah. and i wondered whhyy.. where did these people come from? why suddenly your faces are evrywhere? why?

and then i saw this awesome piece of art next to the building above. i still wonder wth.

and then came this building into view, next to the building with the awesome green slime on it. and then terpampanglah RMIT University sign sebesar gajah menempeleng me in the face. and then i monologue dalaman "WHOAH! COOL NYA RMIT!!!!!! (bukan sekadar a shoplot tepi jeraya -____-")" the building with the grenn slime is also RMIT's building. the one with lots of people sitting on the grass is Melbourne Library.

also RMIT.

one of their studios which is visible to pedestrians. it is like half  below ground level, if you know what i mean (like this is me looking down on the window). very the cool!

very the cool one more time.

opposite the library. shopping mall with cinema. absolute coolness RMIT tok!

RMIT too.

RMIT again.

ohh.. thats what it stands for..

yea in Australia you can basically drink the water directly from the tap, unless stated otherwise.

tiba-tiba ada gik RMIT di belakang lorong.

summary: RMIT is everywhere. mengarei okay. turn right RMIT, turn left RMIT. its like an open campus university. is that what they call it? or is it city university ka apa oo.. i'll google it ask my dad again cause he did mention bout it once. i think there are more of RMIT photos in my memory card, which i yet to transfer. teeheee! if there are more interesting shots, i'll definitely share it with you guys! :)

now now, lets sleep. coz i have tonnes of assignments due next week! okay that just doesnt go together... part II coming up when i feel like it :D

on randomness #1

hey beautiful people! just wanna share random things thats on my mind, or should i say, the things that i actually wanted to post before but very lazy to finish writing the whole thing, so i'll just summarise all (or maybe save some for later :p) in this entry. ok?

i went to Australia recently. Adelaide & Melbourne to be exact. Adelaide is in the south of Australia while Melbourne is an hour (++) flight journey to the east of Adelaide. if i am not mistaken :p the weather was just nice. hot but breezy in the day, while chill but not freezing at night. but you'll wake up with a very cold feet in the morning. so wear those fluffy cute pair winter socks to sleep hokay! :D

i mean these:
told you its fluffy and comel right?? as my feet are experiencing winter all year long during the night, i continue wearing them to sleep here in Malaysia too! haha

morning in Adelaide. in the CBD.

late evening in Adelaide. this is the beautiful Glenelg beach!

night in Adelaide. in the city.

found this poster at a bus stop in Glenelg. notice the punchline: 'Golden Gaytime'? well, i took this because i wanted to show it to Apiz but keep on forgetting. until we both fell in love with krushers last week! it is actually yummms! hehehe definitely golden gaytime!! ;p

the street pianos! this was the one in front of University of Adelaide.

this was the one in Rundle Mall.

and this is the one in Adelaide's Airport! and one more thing bout the airport, people can send the passengers off til the boarding gate!! like even if you're not going to board the plane, you can still walk in, go through all the security checkpoint and send off your family or friends till the gate e.g. gate 7, gate 24, gate R (Kuching Intl Airport ada gate R)! how awesome is that??? :D

eh. malas dah mok cita bout Melbourne. hehe coz i wanna share lotsa photos i took in Melbourne. i'll save it for later share it with you guys in a latter post okay? like you care kan if i post it or not. hehe prasan jeh ;p lemme just say, as much as i super love the streets i walked up and down in Melbourne, the cold weather so i have the chance to wear my leather jacket (ahah!), the interconnected shopping malls and the free city circle tram, like i said before, nothing tops a salam given to me by a stranger upon entering the tram to St. Kilda beach :) her smile affected my mood, and her salam affected my soul, til this day. i might sound like i'm exaggerating, but i was desperate for a hint of familiarity after six days being in a foreign country where you scrutinies every ingredient of each meal. it was an amazing feeling, i felt recognised and it made me feel that i wasnt alone :') after experiencing such a huge impact on the street of Melbourne and knowing how a simple salam could help someone feel much much better, i say it out to strangers at every chance that i got in Melbourne, the Muslim ones of course :) and having them answering the salaam, it just clicked in my heart that someone else in this foreign land believes in what i believe, and i smile to myself while continuing my walk :) :) :)

lets move on to a cute situation. cute? erghh. ok you decide if its cute after you read this conversation:

one fine evening, we were in the car, i was wearing my purple contact lens, a few days after Apiz's 25th birthday...

Apiz: Atenn...nangga dunia sik jadi rona purple ka?
Aten: haaa?? (i thought he was berbual kosong and trying to be cute..)
Apiz: smua-smua tok, urang. sik jadi rona purple kaa?
Aten: (gave him the stare for 2 seconds...) aie aoklah semua tok jadi rona purple (i played along lah konon)
Apiz: aih MENA KAH??
Aten: aiee.. (i realised he was asking innocently) aoklah semua urang jadi rona purple kedak Barney. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Apiz: ????????
Aten: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA (tetak goleng-goleng.. ok tipu coz sekpat goleng dalam motor)

awwwesome! - Barney Stinson

on a slightly different note, i came across this short film just now, it is somewhat sad. but this used to be my number one fear once upon a time, before i started dating anyone, before i like Apiz :) i used to think 'what if it didnt work out? would we say 'hi' if we bump into each other on the street afterwards? would it feel awkward if i see him holding someone else's hand when he was supposed to hold mine?' i pray hard that we wont be strangers ever, in the future. InsyaAllah :) now seat back and watch this. pssst.. you might need a piece or two of tissues to wipe those crocodile tears.

i like the butterflies in the stomach part the best! Alhamdulillah the butterflies in mine & Apiz's stomach are still flying around happily and i think they doubled their amount by 10000000x :D (mainly coz of the growing size of our tummies! kidding!) and recently Apiz claimed that he has butterflies in his legs. maybe it bears the same meaning as jelly legs kan? hihihi i am glad that although Apiz is now 25, he still acts like a five-year-old boy sometimes :p

now lets soothe it out and call it a day with this video. i love that Yuna involves Qi in every opportunity that she could get. then again, she was thinking of him anyways when she wrote this right? ;)

if only i could make one of those love notes fall on Apiz's shoulder now, wherever he might be :)

i need you

i need you. mentally and emotionally, not only physically. i'm exhausted and miserable, and the thought of you somehow helps flip my mood a bit. but it'll be way way better to have YOU here, all eyes and ears and heart on me, even just for a minute :(

*sigh*
